Thanks to everyone who came out on Saturday for the 2nd Annual Wilderness Kids Music Festival. The day was a tremendous success, with 250 people in attendance listening to five incredible local bands and performers on the beautiful campus of Burgundy Farm Country Day School. While grooving to the tunes, some kids were getting their faces painted and making friendship bracelets while others were getting dunked in the dunk tank on the last day of summer.
Meanwhile, young and old alike tried their hands (and feet) at the 25-foot high rock wall, celebrating after their ascent by gobbling up kebabs and cones, thanks to the talented chefs at Supreme Kebab and the friendly scoopers from Ben & Jerry’s. Over the course of the warm, sunny day a number of people took home great raffle prizes donated by partners such as Patagonia, REI, Pork Barrel BBQ, Bagel Uprising, the Dairy Godmother, and others.
In total, generous supporters contributed $14,300 that will go toward getting more Alexandria youth out into nature, more often. Thank you to all who came out and donated at the Festival, as well as our incredible event sponsors: Alexandria Toyota, Latham & Watkins LLP, Simpson Development, James Crowe Realty, Tartan Properties, Bagel Uprising, and Los Tios Grill. While we are at it, we’d love to give a shout out to other great local businesses who support Wilderness Kids, even if they were not sponsors of this event - Patagonia Old Towne, the Jen Walker Team, and Old Town Smiles Dentistry.
Enough with words! Photos tell the story in ways that words can’t - a story of a community coming together to have fun, to listen to some great musci, and to raise money so that more young people can enjoy incredible experiences in the natural world, more often.
